Fleet

Fleet, located in district of Hampshire, England, lies 36 miles to the southwest of London and 10 miles east of Basingstoke. As of 2011 it had a population of 38,726. The Halifax Quality of Life ranked Hart as the best place to live for the years 2011 to 2015. This was due to its highly rich majority of the population, better weather and health conditions, and high levels of access to leisure space.

Fleet is known for its largest freshwater lake in Hampshire - the Fleet Pond, and its quaint High Street which provides long-established Victorian and Edwardian look.

The town can be accessed by the M3 easily. There is also a service station by the name of Welcome Break in Fleet.

Governance

The Hart District Council administers Fleet in collaboration with the Hampshire County Council. The governmental constituency for Fleet is North East Hampshire. In April 2010 some of the responsibilities of Hart District Council were transferred to three new parish councils: Fleet Town Council, Elvetham Heath Parish Council and Church Crookham Parish Council.

Wards

Fleet and Church Crookham is divided into the following wards:

Fleet West: the western side of Fleet, including part of Church Crookham.
Fleet Courtmoor: It lies towards the east of the Basingstoke Canal.
Fleet North: mostly the Elvetham Heath estate.
Fleet Central: which covers the town centre and oldest areas of the town.
Church Crookham West: the southern and western parts of Church Crookham
Church Crookham East: It covers some parts of eastern Fleet and the remaining of the northern and eastern parts of Church Crookham.

Transport

Rail

Fleet is served by Fleet railway station, funded by the Hampshire County Council, on the London to Basingstoke line.

Bus

Fleet has strong local bus service, Fleet Buzz, operated by Stagecoach bus. It has routes that provide services to towns such as Farnborough and Aldershot.
