Heathrow

Heathrow is an airport located at a distance of 23 km from the west of central London. Heathrow is the busiest airport among all the airports of the Europe in case of passenger traffic. Approximately 75.7 million passengers travelled through this airport in 2016.

The whole area of the airport comes under the TW postcode area. The overall progress of the city started in 1944. The Heathrow airport was first opened in 1944 and designer of this place was Sir Frederick Gibbered.

Heathrow airport serves the 84 countries. Almost 80 airlines flying to 185 destinations daily. 73.4 million Passengers travelled through Heathrow in 2014. Most of these passengers were international travellers. Heathrow is one of the largest airports in the world with 180 routes. It has two runways which occupied the area of 12.27 sq.km. The head office of this airport is situated in Compass Centre which was established by Northern Runway of Heathrow. As the airport authority was unable to remove snow from runways so the airport had to suffer declination. Speed bird House at Heathrow Airport is the head office of the British Airways. Northern perimeter road is present in the north of the airfield. Car rental agencies and bath road run parallel to the Heathrow Airport, but not within the boundaries of the airport. Actually, Heathrow airport was designed to handle 55 million passengers annually but the crowd of passengers crossed a record of 70 million in 2012 which results in the delaying of facilities. So the airport had to endure the criticism just because of overcrowding and delays. So the authority had to design Terminal 5 in order to reduce the burden. This terminal is built between the northern and southern runways at the Heathrow airport. This terminal was opened to the public after 19 years in 2008.
