Red Bull Stratos was a collaborative event, with the previous record holder for sky diving - 84 year old Joe Kittinger - guiding Felix from the ground, a whole team supporting and organising the jump, and just a bit of help from the sponsor Red Bull. It was also what I believe to be the first truly global social media event. Read on to find out what I mean by that...
If you want to find out more about the jump itself, head to the Red Bull Stratos website or the BBC where it's proving quite a popular subject today, claiming 4 out the top 5 most shared stories:
Want to publicise events like Red Bull? We offer tailored social media training packages. Combine our social media, content marketing and WordPress courses to learn how to build a website and create and marketing content using social media.

Marketing is a funny old game, new opportunities spring up all the time - often where we least expect them. One recent example has taught us a very useful marketing formula - timing + social media = sales.
SEO, social media and content marketing are all interconnected. To get links, social shares, and engagement you need content that stirs the public imagination. We offer courses in all the above; visit the SEO and Social Media pages if you are interested in learning more.
Stories like the Ecco Homo fiasco don't come around too often. It's perfect meme material - human, ironic, funny, tragic. We've been thinking about how to recognise the signs of a meme developing and using the tidal wave of interest as a marketing tool.
1/ Don't try to restore a century old fresco unless you know what you're doing
You must have seen it by now - an 80 year old Spanish grandma has become a viral sensation and hit headlines across the world for her unauthorised attempt at restoring the 100 year old fresco 'Ecce Homo (Behold the Man)' by Elias Garcia Martinez. The image she created has become an Internet Meme.
Early critics ripped into her efforts, with a BBC correspondent likening it to "a crayon sketch of a very hairy monkey in an ill-fitting tunic". However...

One question I’m often asked by those who are starting to tweet is ‘What do I tweet about?’ So I have written 30 Tweeting Top Tips.
Even the most experienced tweeters get twitter block sometimes. Here are a few ideas to keep you going. Incidentally many of these suggestions make good blog ideas too. I did write a post on Blog Ideas earlier.
If you are new to Twitter and are only just finding out about Social Media and what it can do for your business, why not book onto one of our Social Networking Training in Brighton, Sussex.
1. Write helpful Tweets
At least half of your tweets should be an answer, a response, or some kind of communication or dialogue. Remember it’s about relationships.
2. Create a tweet when you upload a new blog post
Let everyone know what you are writing about, and make the tag line snappy. Next time you are wondering which links to click on in twitter ask yourself why you chose them, make a note then use the same technique.
